The popularity of yoga has grown in recent years. Studies have proven yoga's numerous benefits, while healthcare professionals and various researches also accept and recommend this practice. Yoga is not a mystical practice, nor is it a flexibility contest – it is an excellent stress-relief and low-impact activity that creates a unique synergy between mind, body and breath.
Yoga is becoming more and more popular due to its positive impact on stress and its soothing and relaxing effects. It also provides positive physical and mental benefits for athletes. Yoga covers a few aspects: physical exercises (asanas) and calming the mind and body (breathing techniques, meditation). Yoga's holistic effects mean it can be integrated easily into your everyday routine.
Doing yoga stretches and strengthens your muscles, brings balance to your entire body, increases mobility and flexibility and reduces tension in your joints. The focus on breathing impacts the central nervous system – deep breathing increases the supply of oxygen to the body, which helps to increase energy levels. Regular yoga practice helps detoxify the body by cleaning the internal organs and supporting the metabolic system, as well as reducing stress, increasing mindfulness and improving sleep.
